Sameera Reddy, who turns 31 on December 14, has also completed just over a decade in films. The actress, who made her debut in the 2002 film ‘Maine Dil Tujhko Diya’, has done some 30-plus films since then. She appeared in ‘Musafir’, revealed her sizzling side in ‘Race’ and has also starred in ‘Kaalpurush’ and ‘Taxi No 9211’.
now Sameera, who has said she was ‘a tomboy’ and ‘ugly duckling’ when she was a teenager, featured in the music video for Pankaj Udhas’ ghazal ‘Aur Aahista’ and came to Bollywood’s notice after that.
Her big break in the South came with ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’, by Gautham Vasudev Menon in which she was cast opposite Surya. She said in an interview, “Till then I was forever on a quest: for good roles, good skin, better physique…. But somewhere around the time I signed the film, I just decided to live in the present and take things as they happen. It is gratitude for the gifts we have. It was miraculous… things just began to fall in place after that. In fact, Meghna in ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’ is the closest I have come to playing myself on the screen.”
She’s also worked in the Malayalam film ‘Oru Naal Varum’ starring Mohanlal. It came about thanks to Priyadarshan with whom Sameera made ‘De Dana Dan’.
She was roped in for a special appearance in Prakash Jha’s ‘Chakravyuh’. The “Kunda Khola” song which Sameera performed was one of the talked-about item numbers of last year.
